If you’re not yet in the holiday mood, there are lots of events throughout midcoast Maine this weekend to get you into the spirit. Here are just a few.

Wiscasset Holiday Market Fest
When: Fri, December 6, 10am – Sun, December 8, 6pm
Where: Wiscasset
Make shopping for your holiday gifts a pleasure this year by visiting the unique shops in beautiful Wiscasset Village! Park your car in one of the many conveniently located parking lots – and shop, shop, shop! Many stores are offering warm beverages to warm the body while their gift selections warm the heart! The historic Nickels-Sortwell House will be dressed for the season; and the Holiday Gift Shop in the barn offers artisan-made selections for your holiday shopping.

Harbor Lights Festival
When: Sat, December 7, 10am – 6pm

Christmas by the Sea
When: Fri, December 6, 10am – Sat, December 7, 6pm
Where: Camden
For more than 20 years, the seaside village of Camden has held a “Christmas by the Sea” festival each winter. The event has spread to include the people and businesses in the neighboring communities of Lincolnville and Rockport. Events start on Thursday with the Camden Artwalk. Friday through Sunday are filled with holiday events including live music, carriage rides, a parade, craft fairs, cookie decorating and Santa arriving by boat. Freeport Sparkle Celebration
When: Fri – Sun, December 5 to 19
Where: Freeport
“Visit Freeport presents one of Maine’s most popular holiday celebrations. The festivities kick off Friday night with a Parade of Lights down Main Street, and the fun continues all week with a NEW Sparkle Market, free horse drawn wagon rides, visits with Santa, a talking Christmas Tree and much more! Trolley Caroling
When: Fridays and Saturdays December 6 – 21, 4pm – 8pm
Where: Downtown Bath
Get into the Christmas spirit trolleying around the City of Ships admiring the holiday lights, caroling all along. Volunteer elves will be happy to help you reserve your time on the trolley so you can enjoy some local shopping and dinning without waiting in line. Free tickets will be available beginning at 3:30 p.m.
North Pole Express
When: December 7, 8, 14, 15, 21 and 22. 10:00am – 5:00pm
Where: Boothbay Railway Village,
“Train conductors at Boothbay Railway Village call “All Aboard” and everyone, young and old, boards the train to the North Pole. Settle into a comfortable seat in the steam-heated passenger car to enjoy the winter wonderland of forest frosted with white snow; weather permitting.”

Gardens Aglow
When: Thu, Fri, Sat, 4pm – 9pm
Where: Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens
“The magic begins as darkness falls. Join us to experience the brilliance of New England’s biggest and brightest light display! With over 650,000 lights, witness the transformation of our central gardens into an extravaganza of festive lights in a dramatic display of brilliant color. This year, we’re taking our dramatic display to new heights, incorporating—for the first time—our magnificent sculpture exhibit, Unearthed, by artist Steve Tobin.”
