Montsweag Flea Market

New England Today picked Montsweag Flea Market as the Best Outdoor Flea Market in Maine. Just down the road from our hotel the flea market is open Saturday and Sunday mornings as well as the special Antiques days on Wednesday.

Here’s their full listing of the best Flea Mart in every state.

While Maine’s Route 1 is not short on roadside eateries and attractions, it’s worth keeping your eyes peeled for this one. Actually, it’s hard to miss: At the height of summer the biggest flea market in Midcoast Maine boasts roughly 100 vendors, who pile their outdoor tables with collectibles and yard sale miscellany. Need another reason to pull over? Parking and admission are free. Wednesdays and weekends May to October.

  1. With my brother and niece I spent four nights, checking out on the morning of Labor Day. Loved this place. Although I am handicapped, I was very pleased with all the amenities available. We stayed in 3 & 4 with our dog and made friends with people in neighboring units. Units were very clean and beautifully decorated (to my tastes). I liked that housekeeping was available when needed, but stayed out of the rooms when not requested. We all loved getting breakfast delivered to our door at a time slot we chose. I read through the binder in our units that told the history of the cabins and the boxing arena. I know that the owners have only had this lodge for less than three years, but have been making changes as time and funds allow and they are to be congratulated for the wonderful service provided. Thank you for a wonderful vacation. (Our reservations were under my brother Bill’s name.)
