Since we bought the hotel 6 years ago, the Southend of Wiscasset has under gone a rejuvenation and is quickly becoming the cool end of town.
In the last year several new businesses have opened, all of which are walking distance from our hotel. We’re thrilled to have new neighbors and wish all these businesses success. Be sure to check them out while you’re in town.
Bath Ale Works
Wiscasset now has a microbrewery – Bath Ale Works (BAW). Don’t let the name fool you, they’re in Wiscasset. In fact they’re less than a mile away from our hotel in Wiscasset. They’re family and pet friendly, they have rotating food trucks, occasional live music, cornhole boards and an outdoor patio.
Their hours are Thursday through Monday Noon to 8 PM
Maine Tasting Center
Just yesterday, the tasting room at the Maine Tasting Center opened it’s doors to the public. The tasting room has indoor and outdoor seating, evening entertainment and music. They serve rotating Maine beer, wine and cider and a selection of small plates that spotlight ingredients from Maine farmers and producers.
Their hours are Sunday & Monday 12 – 7 pm, Tuesday – Friday 12 – 9 pm, Saturday11 a.m. – 9 pm.
There are future plans for a demonstration kitchen and interactive exhibits that highlight Maine state food and drink.
Birches Coffee Bar and Market
Birches serves coffee drinks made from their own Seacoast Coffee roasted on site. They also sell a variety of other beverages as well as grab and go sandwiches perfect for a picnic lunch. Their market features locally produced products. They’re located just one door down from our hotel.
Their hours are Monday-Friday 7:30am – 4pm, Saturday 8am – 4pm, closed Sunday
Barnhouse Grill and Pub
The Barnhouse is located next to Shaw’s just half a mile from our hotel and across the street from Bath Ale Works. They serve Mexican and American comfort food and have a full bar. Their outside patio has live music some evenings.
The Barnhouse is open Monday through Saturday 11 am to 8 pm. Closed Sundays.
